I've had two Nokia 1100s. It's a nice little phone, to do phone-related stuff only (ie. calls and sms). It's also a great alarm clock replacement - my newer Motorola Nextel has a color screen and Java (and cheap radio, duh), but it's crappier than the 1100 on every important phone feature. It's also a really durable model... I've heard accounts of it surviving falls from third or fifth floor balconies, toilet diving, and even police violence (seriously, I know people who've received beatings strong enough to break the phone's battery lid and disassemble the phone who managed to rebuild it and phone home for help).

BTW, I'm not from Africa, but Argentina.
