I was very surprised to see the price difference between the Kindle store and the Stanza store -- maybe the contract terms are part of that? Basically, in 2000, the sci-fi publisher Baen Books decided to deal with piracy by giving away some content for free, reasoning that people can get a taste for authors' work that way, and make a buying decision later.
