Intriguing discussion of Rene Marie’s suprise mashup rendition of “Lift Every Voice” and the national anthem at a mayoral speech in Denver last week. Personally I think it was cool that she shook things up like that, but I understand why others are upset.

One thing I’ve discovered about journalism since I came to this world is that it’s got a serious transparency problem – nobody shares! Once you’re done with a story, you should make all the documents you dug up available to the rest of the world. I’d like to see a FOIA database, but Scribd would be a great place to start.
