So the new iPhone apparently has Assisted GPS (AGPS), not just cell phone tower triangulation, as used to be the case. I’m trying to figure out if this really yields more accurate geotagging. Anyone know more about this? Please comment!

More about AGPS

New iphone also includes “Global Locate Library software that abstracts assisted GPS commands. The feature should allow the new iPhone to locate its position far more accurately than current solutions and is meant to interface with a Global Locate chip.”

It seems like the new iPhone does almost everything I want (still missing a bluetooth keyboard, but there’s more room now to develop that), for a far lower price & better service than Nokia’s N95. OK I’ll give it a try. Nokia, you had your chance!

The new iPhone 3G will be available in early July and “will sell for $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB model. That’s a $200 discount from the previous $399 and $499 prices for the 8GB and 16GB iPhones, respectively.”
