Seems you have it under control now.

I actually turn off the visual editor as I’ve had it do some really horrendous things to entries, though as I use Safari exclusively I’m suspecting it’s a Safari issue.

Fingers crossed this is coming to an end.

Mark — I understand what you’re saying, but in this case searching for that character string turned up the hacked Akismet plugin. I think the character string is useful information. I’d rather be more concerned about people being able to uncover this hack in their own systems than worry about whether I’m giving a hacker an ego boost.

Never mention the name of the hacker. Please remove the name of the hacker.

Why give them the publicity they crave?
