Another reason to use mac or Linux: “Acrobat & Adobe Reader became hot programs for spammers after a glitch was discovered to exploit the program’s “mailto” command. Hackers used this with malicious PDF code to send e-mails w/ dangerous PDF attachments.” (tags: security technology problems)

Apartment Ratings - Apartments for Rent with Ratings and Reviews from Actual Renters
Another interesting example of user reviews that can be useful. Most people post anonymously (both to conceal astroturfing or to avoid slander suits for complaining) but they do give you good ideas about what questions to ask & crime stats to check. (tags: reviews research local ratings community)
