I’ve finally gotten around to preparing the audio I recorded from my Aug. 27 talk at the Da Vinci Institute’s excellent “Blogger Bootcamp” day-long seminar.
Here’s the audio from that talk:

I was the last speaker, which was fine. That gave me the opportunity to pull together several threads introduced by the first three speakers: Dave Taylor (The Intuitive Life business blog), Andrew O’Reilly (The World Wide Rant), and Stephen Green (Vodkapundit).
My talk mirrors the content strategy handout and links I mentioned here earlier. On that page you can download the pdf of my handout. Here are the main points I covered:
How to craft your ideal weblog content strategy:
- Clarify your goals.
- Identify your target audience.
- Assess your resources.
- How will your target audience find you?
- Engage and hold their interest and goodwill.
- Have faith that you ARE interesting.
- Stay involved with other weblogs.
- Stay human.
- It’s about people, not numbers.
- Keep your goals in mind.
- Keep it fun.
As I note in this talk, my passion is teaching people and organizations how to engage in the public conversation – to their benefit, and to the benefit of their larger community or target audience. That is what content strategy is all about, and that is why content strategy is my favorite part of my business.
If engaging in conversation appeals to you (especially if you can do that in ways that support your goals directly and indirectly), then we should talk. That is exactly what I do best, and I enjoy it immensely. I offer that service through consulting, coaching, project management, and training/workshops. Think it over.
NOTE: I especially wish to thank Tom Frey and Deb Hellman of the Da Vinci Institute for pulling this event together, as well as the diverse and enthusiastic group of participants.

Hi Amy, I attended the Blogger boot camp and learned a lot from the presentations, Thanks for your insite! I have a question: You recorded audio on your ibook, how did you do that? I have an ibook and I cannot figure out how to record sound. Assistance please!
Hi, Mike
I use the free open source software Audacity. that and the built-in mike on my iBook was good enough for what I needed.

Hi Amy
Great presentation. Content strategy is not something that gets talked about a lot and I believe it is vital to the success of any blog or feed. As Bill French of Myst said, It’s not about creating a blog or a feed – it’s about creating one your audience can’t live without.
