Today\’s BizWire Blogging Panel (Audio)

This morning I participated in an early-morning panel on blogging hosted at the Denver Press Club by Business Wire. The audience was about 40 or so PR professionals from the Denver area.

LISTEN NOW! Right-click to download the MP3 audio file. It’s about 16.6 MB and runs about 36 minutes.

Here’s who was on the panel, and what we discussed…

Aside from myself, the panel included:

The topic was very loose – basically anything about how weblogs, are affecting and overlapping with the news media and PR.

Linda, Usher, and Greg all gave brief introductory remarks before it was my turn. I wish I’d recorded those opening remarks, but honestly I only remembered to start recording when it was my turn. The audio quality is fairly comprehensible, but not very professional. Still, I think it’s good enough to understand what’s being said.

  1. Interesting session! I think the audio quality is fine, for a spoken word session where I’m guessing you weren’t able to mic everybody. As far as I’m concerned, this is a great way to spread the message from sessions like this much more widely; if you can attend in person, you get the chance to interact and ask questions; and if you can’t attend, you still have the chance to listen and learn. You realise you’ve set a precedent now, though; podcasts of all your talks will be expected! :-) One perspective, though; speaking personally, I don’t associate “podcast” with “iPod”; the first definition of podcast I heard was that it’s a contraction of the acronym POD and broadcast, where POD stands for “personal, on demand”. In those terms, I think the use of the term “podcast” as a distribution medium is fine.
