More Women in Podcasting

Back on Dec. 22, 2004, I started a list of podcasts that are hosted or co-hosted by women. I’ve been updating that list each time I discover a new woman-created podcast. So far, I’ve found 25 woman-created podcasts – including my own.

CHECK IT OUT: Women in Podcasting: The List

If you listen to podcasts, there’s a way you can easily subscribe to all of these shows in one fell swoop…

CONTENTIOUS reader Greg Gershman, founder of the very cool webfeed aggregator and search service Blogdigger, was kind enough to set up a Women in Podcasting Blogdigger Group

So what? Well, when you visit that group you’ll find a running list of the latest shows from all the woman-created podcasts in my list.

Even better, you can download the entire current set of feeds in this list via the OPML link in the right-hand column of the Blogdigger Group page. You then can import that OPML-format file into your feed reader or podcatcher client (such as iPodder or Doppler) to automatically subscribe to all of those women-created podcasts.

The Women in Podcasting list remains a work in progress. If you know of any podcasts that are hosted or c0-hosted by women which are not currently on that list, e-mail me to tell me about it. Please include the show name, host/cohost name(s), site URL, feed URL, and a brief description of the kinds of content that podcast offers. Shows can be podcast in any language, but your suggestion must come to me in English. Also, if you want public credit for suggesting a woman-created podcast, include your name and URL.

  3. amy, there are tons of women doing podcasts. michael’s daughter contributes on the rock and roll geek show, the delta park project has a woman contributor, adam has both his wife and daughter join in every once in while, rebecca mackinnon has done a few, there were numerous women who contributed at bloggercon 3 - just have get the word out there that you’re trying to aggregate this…

while blogdigger is a good service, you might want to also contribute to the directory effort over at ipodder.org - you could even see about moderating the opml for a women’s category, i’m sure adam would welcome the help…

and nice to see you using the podcasting term - aversions aside ;)
